Bobby Gulley, also known as Voice Actor Bobby G. or VA Bobby G., is a male American voice actor, content-creator, artist, gamer, singer, and YouTuber. He is mostly known for voice acting on YouTube, doing fandubs of comics and different tumblr blogs. His most well-known fandub is his Ask King Sombra fandub, a tumblr blog by Wiggles. He is also known for his voice AI videos, VA Skype Calls, Reaction Videos, Gameplays, PMV Videos, MLP parodies, comic dubs, and many other fan works on his Youtube channel. He has also guest-starred in other people's videos as well.

History

Personal Life

Bobby was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 16, 1996. His parents are Jamie Lee Gulley and Delbert Eugene Gulley. He has two sisters, an older one named Danielle Thoroughman and a younger one named Shayla Gulley. Bobby is the uncle of two nephews and two nieces from both sisters. He is the surviving grandson of Bobby Gene Gulley (1937-2007) and Diane Darlene Gulley (1944-2016) from his Dad's side.

At a young age, he was diagnosed with autism, but Bobby grew up to be a high functioning one. He grew up in Collinsville, Oklahoma, and currently resides in Claremore, Oklahoma. He went to Collinsville High School and graduated in May 2014. He also attended Tulsa Tech Riverside Campus, where he graduated from digital media, but he had to leave animation class, because of failing to meet the deadlines, the teacher not giving him a chance to improve, the difficulty of animation in general, and the stresses of finishing his senior year.

Bobby become obsessed with computers and technology, being into film, animation, and voice acting. His favorite film is The Lion King, and his favorite TV series is a tie between My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Hazbin Hotel. His favorite live action movies are The Lord of the Rings and his favorite live action TV series is The Walking Dead. He dreams to become a professional voice actor one day. Bobby is also obsessed with animals, weather, and nature in general.

On October 9, 2012, Bobby and his family attended the Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they watched a Kamelot and Nightwish concert. Bobby has a selfie picture of himself and Tuomas Holopainen.

On March 30, 2016, Bobby and his family witnessed the Owasso, Oklahoma EF2 Tornado, which narrowly misses their location at the time. Bobby talked about how he was lucky that the tornado misses them, and how he is still fascinated by them and he made a reaction video on the videos of the tornadoes.

On June 18, 2023, Bobby and his family witnessed a powerful mesoscale convective system which caused massive wind damage and power outages throughout Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bobby recorded the event on his phone, having witnessed a lot of power flashes and 100 mph winds. He claimed this storm to be one of the craziest storms he ever witnessed, alongside the 2016 Owasso Tornado.

On November 9, 2024, Bobby, his mom Jamie, and his younger sister Shayla (who is pregnant at the time), went to a KOTV weather event at Bob Mills Furniture, where they met the News On 6 weather team, getting signatures from them. Bobby took a selfie of himself with Travis Meyer, the chief meteorologist of the station, and selfies of himself with the weather team trucks.

On August 10, 2025, Bobby attended his first ever convention, at the Oklahoma Comic Con, where he got to attend a panel, asking voice actress Cristina Vee, a question on what her favorite role is besides Verosika Mayday, then later getting her autograph and a selfie image with her. Bobby has claimed it to be one of the most fun experiences he ever had, even if it was brief. Later, Bobby uploaded a video on his channel, where he showed a clip of the panel he attended and where he asked Cristina a question, which the full panel was uploaded by the user, Voice Of The Heroes Podcast.

On October 11, 2025, Bobby and his family attended a Dream Theater concert at the Tulsa Theater in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is part of the band's Parasomnia 2025 tour. Bobby posted a video recording of the band performing "In The Eyes of Morpheus" and "Night Terror" on his channel. Bobby claimed this concert to be the best he's ever been too so far, though he wished they've played "Solitary Shell" during the show, as Bobby and his parents said that its the song that fits him so well during his younger years, and he claimed to have broken out of his solitary shell when he got older. Bobby's father, Delbert Gulley, has been a big fan of Dream Theater for 30 years, claiming Dream Theater as his favorite band, and Bobby owes his father for getting him into the band as well.

Bobby is an aspiring voice actor who joined YouTube in 2009. He didn't post any video content on his channel until 2011, where he posted his first video. It was a Lion King parody video that shows how Zira first met Scar, and Scar becomes seductive towards her, while the song "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye plays in the background. Then the video shows a screencap of Zira's surprised face and jaw dropped. The video has gathered many views and comments and was proven to be a success.

After his first video, Bobby didn't start making videos again until a year later, when he posted his first My Little Pony related video. It was a PMV tribute to Queen Chrysalis which has her and Discord sing the song "Evil-Mania" from the film, Freddie as F.R.O.7. and again it proved to be a success. Then Bobby posted his second PMV video which centers on the shipping between Discord and Princess Luna and the song that plays in that video is "Blush (Only You)" by Plumb. Bobby continues to post more PMV and parody videos up until November 4, 2012, where he posted his first-ever fandub of the scene in "Return Of Harmony - Part 1" where Discord revealed himself to the ponies and explains the rules before they enter the Maze.

After that, Bobby posted his first King Sombra-related video, which is a PMV tribute of the character and the song is "King of Kings" by Motorhead. A few videos after that, Bobby posted his first comic fandub, which is called "King Sombra king of dubbing". That video was the first time Bobby has voiced King Sombra and back then he was using the Logitech Webcam Mic. He does not get a clear sounding microphone up until 2017, where he owned a Samson Meteor Mic.

A few more videos later, Bobby took inspiration from the videos "Discord and Garble Tumblr" by Rev897 and the "Pinkamena Diane Pie Tumblr Dub" by TheDarkLord2672, to do his own fandub on a Tumblr blog. He discovered a Tumblr blog Ask King Sombra by Wiggles and decided to do a fandub on the blog. The first version of the fandub was deleted and cannot be found anywhere else. In the first version, Bobby voiced all the characters and only reached from Part 1 to Part 8. He voiced Princess Luna and Coffee Talk in those videos. When thinking about what to do in Part 9, Bobby noticed more characters coming in and he wanted to get more voice actors for his Tumblr blog and he wanted an actual voice actress for Coffee Talk. Bobby also noticed mistakes he made in the first version and he personally found the first version to not be good. So he decided to do a second version of the first 8 parts, but this time with different voice actors. The second version of the first 8 episodes is still on his channel to this date. The latest episode was Part 14, where Sombra explained his backstory to Drizzle. The episode came out in 2016. After that, Bobby took a break from the fandub and puts it on hiatus for two years due to personal issues. Then in 2019, Bobby has decided to do a third version of the old episodes again, but this time with his new microphone and to improve on some of the mistakes he has made in the previous version. The third redone version of Part 1 is published on May 3, 2019. Most of the original voice actors would reprise their roles, with a few exceptions. Bobby intended to have the new version of the fandub be more accurate and he made his King Sombra voice a bit more normal and childlike instead of his menacing and scary voice in the old version. He also intended to have Sombra have his Season 9 voice when he returns to the living world while his evil counterpart, Uber Sombra, maintains the menacing Season 3 voice instead of the very demonic sounding one in the first two versions. In all versions, his fandub of Ask King Sombra proved to be his most well-known and popular videos, as they have the most views, the most comments, and the most likes. In recent years, Bobby has never gotten around to continue his third version of Ask King Sombra, due to losing all files he was going to use to create it and for other personal reasons. He plans to bring the fandub back one day.

Coffee Talk

In the second version of the fandub, Bobby began using more voice actors for his projects, and has had two voice actresses who voiced Coffee Talk, one of the main characters in the blog, on his channel. Bobby has first gotten his friend Stephanie Osborne to do the voice of the character Coffee Talk. But after only doing Part 2 and Part 3, Stephanie decided to step down from the project due to personal reasons, but she and Bobby are still good friends to this day, even though they haven't spoken to each other in years. Bobby then got another friend of his at the time, Kelli McEwen, to replace Stephanie as the voice of Coffee Talk starting in Part 4 to Part 11. She was originally gonna reprise her role in the third version of Ask King Sombra, but he cut ties with Kelli completely in 2022 after she was exposed to being a groomer and for being too judgmental of him at times over his love of My Little Pony, treating him unfairly during a raid on Ulduar when they were playing World of Warcraft, and for being annoyed at him for doing silly voices a lot during voice calls, which upsets and hurt his feelings. Many other voice actors have guest appearances in the Ask King Sombra Fandub. One of them was actually the person who inspired him to do the fandub in the first place, TheDarkLord2672. He was going to be the upcoming voice of Prince Elkolas. However, Bobby has never gotten that far into the fandub and he has lost DarkLord's file recordings of his voice. Ever since he lost his old computer in late 2022, he has lost all the recordings he was going to use for the fandub, and thus he has put the Ask King Sombra fandub on a very long hiatus. He wants to bring the fandub back one day.

In late 2013, Bobby met his beloved girlfriend, Olwyn McKeon, and she has quickly become one of Bobby's most recurring voice actresses in his videos. The first video they did together was in the fandub of "Nothing Like Original", where she voices Trixie Lulamoon. They have collaborated together ever since, being the main female voice actress for his fandubs of the IDW comics. In the IDW comic fandubs, she has voiced almost every female character but this will soon not be the case in the upcoming IDW comic fandubs, where he will have more voice actors in the videos. Bobby and Olwyn have continued to collaborate together to this day.

Inspired by Wubcake's set of VA Skype Calls on Youtube, Bobby begins his own VA Skype Calls in 2015. He provides the voice of Professor Sombra, the Equestria Girls version of King Sombra in Wiggle's Tumblr blog. In 2018, he decided to quit doing VA Skype Calls due to Wubcake complaining about how Bobby is copying off of her, which he never intended to do so, and they are all deleted, except for the first one. Bobby has claimed on one of his livestreams that he cut ties with Wubcake, who is a fellow VA he collab with before and whom he looked up to, because of the controversy surrounding her and he told a story on how she indirectly hurt his feelings during a Skype call.

In 2015, Bobby started doing Blind Reactions videos on many fan-made Pony content so he can do more content than just voice act. His first reaction video is the first episode of Friendship Is Witchcraft by Sherclop Pones with his friend Oliva and his girlfriend Olwyn. In late 2018 and early 2019, Bobby had initially decided to quit doing reaction videos due to new Youtube policies. However, he later changed his mind and decided to continue doing them to this day. Bobby also does post reactions as well, where he has seen the video before but still does a reaction to it.

Bobby has made many guest appearances in videos from other YouTubers, which features him doing a voice acting collaboration, doing a Livestream with them, and etc. Bobby has a public playlist on his YouTube channel which has all of his guest appearances and it is still growing today. His first guest appearance is in "Ask Scissor Twilight Fandub: Episode 1" by Zeven Cross. Bobby's personal favorite guest appearance was in "The Walking Dead Audio Drama" by The Walking Bread, where he voices one of the saviors named Conner. Unfortunately, in 2025, due to copyright reasons, The Walking Bread took down the audio drama, which saddens Bobby overall.

Bobby has also done gaming on his channel which features him playing Pony Town or any online computer games he can find. In 2017, he created a second channel and named himself "Gamer Bobby G". In it, Bobby was intending on doing a let's play of World of Warcraft and he only posted a few episodes of it with his girlfriend Olwyn. The gameplay proves to be unsuccessful and his second channel has become inactive. Despite the failure of his second channel, Bobby has continued to do gameplays to this day on his main channel, such as doing gameplays of the Telltale games, The Walking Dead and Batman.

Since 2017, Bobby had been a member of the group of YouTubers called the Brony Entertainment Network, which features other voice actors, musicians, and content creators doing collaborations together in one channel. He had become one of the uploaders on their channel, starting with a video of King Sombra celebrating his takeover of the channel, before Bobby explains that it is not his channel. Bobby had planned to do a new series on the Brony Entertainment Network where he will interview MLP characters in a similar fashion as The Late Shows, but he never got around to doing it. Bobby left Brony Entertainment Network to join Silver Wing Militia, which is another group channel on YouTube, where he would usually collab with his friends on there from time to time.

Bobby had auditioned for one of his favorite YouTubers, DisneyFanatic2364, twice, first as Discord for Bride of Discord and second as General Locust for Daughter of Discord. He was declined for both roles due to his microphone not being great back then. In 2020, Bobby had auditioned for Scorpan for Dr. Wolf's Villain Therapy video, but was not chosen for the role. His audition can still be seen on YouTube.

In 2023, Bobby announced that he will no longer upload any new videos on his second account and that he will upload Hazbin-Hotel-content on his main channel rather than an alternate channel. However, he will keep his second channel up to preserve the old videos he has uploaded on there. He started uploading Hazbin content more often on 2024 since the main show was released.

In 2021, Bobby posted videos on his main channel which featured MLP characters being voiced by a free natural text to speech service called 15.ai, but he is currently no longer making videos from the site.

In 2022, Bobby hasn't been quite as active on social media, due to real life situations, but he has become much more active on Twitter lately, posting tweets on a daily basis, and would sometimes play the game Pony Town most of the time. He also started posting more deviations on his DeviantArt page, becoming active on there again. In 2023, Bobby became more inactive on Twitter, now called X, since he disagreed to the changes made to it ever since Elon Musk took it over. Since then, Bobby joined Blue Sky, a Twitter substitute website, in late 2024, but he still posts on X from time to time.

In December 2022, Bobby's old desktop computer broke down on him, and thus he begins using his sister's laptop. That same year, Bobby begins making more AI videos, but this time from different AI sources, such as ElevenLabs and RVC AI. His most popular RVC AI video is his fandub of "Nuka's Return" by Nauyaco and written by Madarao123. It is a fan-made Lion King comic that follows the events after the Lion Guard TV series, where Vitani and Kovu resurrected their dead brother Nuka briefly from the flames and talked to him. After he received permission by the writer and artist, Bobby dubbed the comic with RVC AI voices of Nuka, Vitani, and Kovu (all of which he cloned himself), and posted it on August 2, 2023. The video got a surprising positive feedback and has gathered a lot of likes, dislikes, comments, and views and it's continuing to be successful today. Bobby has said that his comic fandub of "Nuka's Return" is his favorite RVC AI video he has made so far and he has planned to do another Lion King comic fandub of "The Relative's of the King" by Savu0211, but it will be a voice-acted project, since he recently has stopped doing AI videos.

In November 2023, Bobby posted a RVC AI fandub of Tirek and Scorpan: Brother by seriousdog. Instead of finding a substitute RVC AI voice for the character, Bobby cloned the voice of LuckoDaStars, the VA of Scorpan for Dr. Wolf's "Villain Therapy" video (the same one Bobby auditioned for Scorpan on) for his RVC AI fandub. Two days later, Bobby got an angry comment from LuckoDaStars for cloning his voice without his permission. A remorseful Bobby took the video down and then made a community post apologizing to LuckoDaStars. Ever since then, this moment alone is one of the reasons why Bobby has stopped making AI videos altogether. Two years later, on October 2025, Bobby posted a redub of the comic on his channel, this time done with voice-acting instead of AI.  

In early 2024, Bobby has grown more obsessed with Hazbin Hotel after the main show finally came out and is now making more Hazbin Hotel content on his main channel, even introducing his "hellsona" James P. Bluford the Hyena Sinner in his first ever ASMR video, with Bluford taking fictional questions from any denizen of Hell.

On August 9, 2025, Bobby decided to end his AI videos, due to the upcoming regulations against it and to play it safe, plus he wanted to respect the voice actor's wishes on no longer using their cloned voices for his videos, and just sticking with actual voice acting.

Voice Work

Bobby is most notable for the role as King Sombra on his Youtube channel. He also does Lord Tirek, Discord, The Storm King, Iron Will, The Flim Flam Brothers, Doctor Whooves, Scorpan, Star Swirl The Bearded, Garble, Flash Sentry, Shining Armor, Spike, Grogar and Sunburst. In some of his videos, Bobby has also been voicing a few female characters as well. The most recurring female character he voices in his channel is Cozy Glow. The other female characters he has voiced over the years being Derpy, Twilight Sparkle, and as the original voices of Coffee Talk and Princess Luna in the deleted first version of "Ask King Sombra". But in most of his videos, Bobby has his girlfriend Olwyn McKeon do most of the female characters in his videos but he also gets other voice actresses to collaborate with him as well.  

Out of the MLP verse, he also does the voice of Conner, one of the members of the Saviors in the now-deleted Walking Dead Motion Comics by The Walking Bread on YouTube. In the Hazbin Hotel fandom, he can do impressions of Sir Pentious, Alastor, Vox, Valentino, Adam, Striker, Moxxie, Satan, Andrealphus, Angel Dust, Charlie Morningstar, Lucifer Morningstar, Vaggie, Emberlynn Pinkle, Velvette, and The Egg Bois.

He started off with a Logitech Webcam and edited on AVS Video Editor.

From 2017 to present, Bobby uses a Samson Meteor Mic. From 2020 to 2022, Bobby used a Blue Snowball Ice Microphone. In late November 2022, he confirmed on his community page, that he lost his Blue Snowball microphone and is planning to buy a new microphone. In 2023, Bobby tweeted that he recently found his Samson Meteor Mic and was returned to him, but he is missing a cord to plug in the mic. He finally found the cord and is now once again using his Samson Meteor Mic to do voice acting, with the first video of his mic's return being his voice impressions video in 2023. In 2025, Bobby revealed on his community post that his Samson Mic has broke down. However, 3 days later, his Samson Mic starts working again.

From 2017 to present, he makes and edits videos on VideoPad Video Editor.

Fun Facts

• Bobby is named after his late grandfather from his dad's side, Bobby Gene Gulley.
• Bobby would often laugh if someone would call him Robert, because that's where the name "Bobby" originated from. He was given the name Bobby by birth.
• Bobby has admitted in some of his videos that he has high-functioning autism. Despite this, Bobby said he is proud of a person he is and his passion in life is to make people happy, laugh, and brighten up their days.
• Bobby's ponysona, Cobalt Sounds, actually got his own story, told in Bobby's YouTube community page. His last name, Sounds, and his microphone cutie mark is due to his talented ability to do voices and impressions.
• Bobby has said in his videos that he is not doing videos out of fame or money, he is doing videos because he wants to entertain people and he enjoys people complimenting him and praising his videos. But he also allows people to critique his videos as long as they are helpful and constructive which helps him improve in the future.
• Bobby always has a strong interest in villains, as he finds them to be the most enjoyable and interesting characters in any media when done right. Bobby is also a huge fan of the villains in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He explains they are one of the biggest reasons why he is a brony. His favorite MLP villain has always been King Sombra and was a prominent character on his channel. Recently, Lord Tirek has taken over as his number 1 favorite MLP antagonist, but he still loves the character of Sombra as a whole and he is high on his list.
• Bobby's favorite MLP character is Discord. He explains that Discord is one of the reasons he became a Brony in the first place. The character was once his favorite villain until his redemption and is now his favorite character as a whole.
• Bobby's current favorite pony as a whole is Cozy Glow, as he finds her to be an adorable and enjoyable villainess.
• Bobby's favorite Mane Six pony is Twilight Sparkle.
• Bobby has a character crush on Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer, and Queen Chrysalis. All he considered his "waifu's".
• In most of his collabs with his girlfriend Olwyn, Bobby has always referred to her as his "Snugglebunny". His girlfriend calls him "Cuddlebear". They also squee at each other a lot, which is their own way of saying they love each other. To this day, Bobby has currently never seen his girlfriend in person because they live long distances away from each other. His biggest wish was to meet her in person and they can finally share their love for each other and to see where their relationship will go.
• Bobby enjoys roleplaying and he mostly roleplays with his girlfriend and his closest friends. He also plays role-playing games such as Pony Town, Roblox, and FeralHeart. He also usually roleplays on a site called Aniroleplay.me.
• In recent years, Bobby has become less active on YouTube due to his busy schedules and dealing with real life, which is why he takes a long time when posting a new episode of the Ask King Sombra Fandub or the IDW comic fandubs.
• In 2020, Bobby has become a huge fan of Hazbin Hotel, an adult animated comedy web series by Vivienne "Vivziepop" Medrano. It briefly inspired him so much to create a channel that is fully Hazbin Hotel related, but has recently started uploading Hazbin-content on his main channel.
• Bobby is a huge Lion King fan, claiming the Lion King to be his favorite movie of all time. On his DeviantArt page, he joined the site on 2010, and he's been posting Lion King artwork and screencaps from the MMORPG game, FeralHeart. His favorite character is Scar in the first movie. Nuka is his favorite character in the second movie. His username on DeviantArt used to be called Nukarulesthehouse1, before he changed it to VoiceActorBobbyG25.
• Bobby is also a huge fan of AMC's The Walking Dead and that his favorite character is Negan. He has done some Walking Dead videos here and there and as mentioned earlier, he voiced Conner the Savior in Walking Bread's comic audio dramas.
