Synopsis[]
Set two years after Canterlot High's field trip to Camp Everfree, the Mane 7 have just moved to Downtown City to start anew, while revisiting some old friends from Canterlot. But this time, they're not dealing with Equestrian magic anymore. When Twilight Sparkle's puppy Spike begins to have nightmares about aliens coming down to Earth, he immediately starts to believe that there is about to be an alien arrival. Spike's predictions soon become a reality after a UFO crash-lands at Camp Everfree and he gets abducted by grotesque aliens, who believe that Spike is their leader. Worried that Spike will soon suffer a horrifying fate, the Mane 7 must race against time to rescue their friend, with the aid of their new neighbor, Littlest Pet Shop employee Blythe Baxter.
Plot[]
A few years after Canterlot High School’s field trip to Camp Everfree, Spike begins to have nightmares about being abducted by aliens. Former transfer student Twilight Sparkle grows concerned about Spike’s beliefs about aliens arriving on Earth, and drops him off at the Littlest Pet Shop, where her friend Blythe Baxter receives a phone call from best friend Sue Patterson, who just joined an unofficial government agency known as S.T.I.N.G.
That night, a UFO crash-lands at Camp Everfree and a blob of blue slime breaks into the Rainbooms’ household, where the creature in question, a grotesque alien named Smeg, impersonates Spike and leaves the real Spike to be abducted in a UFO, just like in his nightmares. After returning from the vet, Twilight, Blythe, and the other girls discover that same blob from last night, leaving a slimy trail to Spike’s doghouse. Pinkie Pie comes to a conclusion that the real Spike has disappeared and has been replaced with an alien doppelganger.
After a fight with Smeg, the girls set off to rescue Spike, with Blythe and the rest of the Littlest Pet Shop gang tagging along. Meanwhile, Sue and her S.T.I.N.G. partner Dani Burns has been assigned to investigate the UFO’s arrival at Camp Everfree, where Spike meets Pog and Garlax, who are part of a race of shape-shifting aliens known as Klaatus. They mistake him for the “Great One”, who is considered to be the leader of the Klaatus. Garlax sets a deal with Spike that he can come back home to Twilight and her friends if he can help the two Klattus rebuild their ship.
Arriving at Camp Everfree, the girls soon discover that Spike has been captured by Sue and Dani and they follow them to the S.T.I.N.G. headquarters later that night, where they break into the building to continue their search. Smeg also breaks into the facility and finds the girls, now absorbed into a cross-breed clone of Dr. Wallflower Blush and a Black Widow Spider, plotting to kill them, but Pinkie saves them in the nick of time by engaging in a comedic fight with the gruesome mutant.
The girls head back to Camp Everfree, where a UFO exhibit is being held. Smeg, having escaped the S.T.I.N.G. headquarters, follows them soon after and plans to end Spike’s life once and for all. The girls manage to fight them off, but Smeg soon corners Spike inside the camp’s courtyard impersonating Twilight and the real Twilight, wielding a shotgun, saves him by shooting him in the head. This leads to Smeg finally being killed on the rooftop of the courtyard and both Dani and Sue soon show up to kill Spike. Sue immediately quits S.T.I.N.G., believing that killing civilians for no reason is wrong, and Spike and the girls say goodbye to the Klaatus as they leave Earth.
The next day, the Littlest Pet Shop gang meet up with the girls as they head down to Equestria Land.
