Garble is a teenage dragon that antagonizes Spike and the Mane 6 in the season two episode Dragon Quest. He and his gang are loosely based on the Dragon Gang from the original My Little Pony TV series. He returns in the season 6 episode Gauntlet of Fire.
Depiction in fan labor[]
In some fan labor, Garble is depicted as reforming and becoming a close friend and comrade to the Mane 6 and their circle of friends.[1]
Other stories depict him as still having a grudge against Spike after their first encounter (which would indeed be the case in the episode Gauntlet of Fire), and seeking revenge on him. These attempts usually end poorly for him.[2][3]
Personality[]
In stories where he's changed his ways, Garble can still be quite hot headed and belligerent. However, he is fiercely protective of his new friends and will gladly face any for be it either Tirek, Sombra or Chrysalis.[citation needed]
In stories where he has not reformed, Garble is shown to hold long grudges against Spike and his friends.[2][3]
Relationships[]
In stories where he's reformed, Garble is usually best friends with Spike. He is also portrayed as crushing on Twilight and protective of Fluttershy and her other friends. However, he does not get along with Shining Armor, whom he tends to bicker with, and dislikes Flash Sentry, who gets on his nerves.[citation needed]
Sometimes, Garble is portrayed as the son of or otherwise answering to a Dragon King, who is less than happy with his son's behavior towards the ponies and allows them to punish him for his actions as they see fit when he finds out.[2][3]
